“Black Swans” is an installation that uses Twitter searches to generate video art, sculpture, and text. A custom-built software program runs a Twitter search of a keyword (“beautiful”, "space", “electric”, “numbers”, etc) as its source and creates shapes based on the characteristics of the resulting Tweet– length of the text, number of friends associated with the tweet, how many times it’s been re-tweeted, etc.

These keywords are generated by audience members sending tweets with a custom hashtag, so the video takes its shape from audience input– the more tweets sent, the more complicated the shape becomes.

The software program also creates a live text stream, generated by the most-used words in the tweets, which becomes the title for the installation. For instance, the search for “beautiful” creates the text “Beautiful Driving into tho saw beautiful:) single then from a cry over moment”.
