Report

The twelfth edition of LPM in Mexico City has just ended and it proved to be a great success on an international level.  While we prepare for the next events in Rome and Cape Town in 2013, now it’s time to draw conclusions and sum up this edition.

It was a year long and intense preparation, during which the efforts of the entire team were focused on creating a second edition Mexico that would overcome the one in Xalapa in 2008, both in terms of participants and quality of proposed works.

Important to mention is the request of the Government of Mexico to change the location due to the large amount of international participants and the audience expected, which occurred just a few days before the event.New LPM’s venue became one of the biggest visual and performing arts centers of Latin America CENART – Centro Nacional de las Artes. Mexico City offered us a warm welcome, more than 300 artists from 38 countries gathered in Mexico from all over the world presenting 158 performances, workshops and showcases.

LPM 2013 MEX hosted talks, discussion panels, presentations and workshops taught by international professionals as Translab (Mexico), AV Node presentation (Italy), Organic Data Feeding by deadman (Mexico), Processing for iPad and iOS by Eric Medine (USA) and a three-day workshop by Astrovandalistas (Mexico) a work by young mexican artists resulted with a large collaborative audio-visual performance reflecting on socio-political situation in Mexico.

As for the interactive installations, thanks to great spaces of CENART’s Centro Multimedia, we were able to host “Canteira” an interactive stone sculpture by Yoliztli (Mexico).

As for the audiovisual performances we were glad to host the projects by:

kupa (Mexico), Miyo Van Stenis (Venezuela), plankton – Weronika Lewandowska (Poland), Astrovandalistas (Mexico), La-Va Los Angeles Video Artists (USA), Sensodanza Experimental (Mexico), Waves(Canada).
