May 23 - 26, 2013
Brancaleone, Rome Italy, Rome, Italy

2013 was a long and intense year, during which the efforts of the entire team were focused on creating two editions of the Meeting, after the second successful mexican edition held on January: the thirteen edition in Rome and the fourteen edition in Cape Town (SA).

The thirteen edition of LPM took place in Rome from 23 to 26 May at Brancaleone Club.
Despite the sudden change of location, which occurred just weeks before the event, the artists experience in Rome was not disrupted, instead they participated with great enthusiasm and broader participation as ever. In Rome we’ve hosted 372 artists from 37 countries gathered in Italy from all over the world, presenting 212 performances, workshops and showcases.

The fourteenth edition of LPM  in Cape Town, held form 15 to 17 November, confirmed the great success of the Meeting at international level: all our efforts were focused on creating the bases of a vj community in South Africa, which hosted LPM in the incredible City Hall of Cape Town. This venue offered us a warm welcome, more than 125 artists from 25 countries gathered in South Africa from all over the world presenting 158 performances, workshops and showcases.

Both edition of LPM 2013 in Rome and Cape Town hosted talks, discussion panels, presentations and workshops presented by international professionals as Malte Steiner (DE) with his Pure Data workshop, Nicola Saponaro (IT) with his Dynamic Mapping workshop, and Eric Medine (USA) with the workshop Generative Visuals for iPad, Amsterdam Dance Event: Beamlab (Netherlands), AV Node presentation (Italy), Mapping workshop by Telenoika (ES) , A/V performances with EGG interface by Mattia Casalegno (IT), Introducing vjing South Africa realized by the Union of the Vjs from Cape Town and DVjing by Dj Oof, supported by the Institut Francais in South Africa.

As for the video installations, we’ve hosted Dance Macabre, an intensive digital triptych by Boris Labbè, the winner of the Call4Robot, competition realized by our italian partner Robot Festival; Shipibo Ikaro, a psychedelic trip in the nature realized by the Cape Town based collective Afterlife A/V, consisting in a mapping on a carpet; Slice, an interactive installation by the physicist  Yetkin Yilmaz, a curios experience in a dynamic mirror.

As for the audiovisual performances we were glad to host the projects by Alexander Senko (Russia) with his Object and Line To space, a long digital trip inside a noise/minimal space; the duo Anticorp and Krom from Mexico with Memoria Viva, an analysis of the past with the magnetic tapes. Also from Poland the scenic Warabida with her video theatre show call Modern Pierott; the analysis of the political situation in Uruguay, Supremazia by the duo Uruguayan duo Cooptrol+Fyslab  based on the short story “The Supremacy Of Uruguay” written by Elwyn Brooks White. From South Africa an incredible and spectacular Ben Raush, based in Johannesburg, with Keytar Deathstar and the duo SNR based in Cape Town with their deconstructive noise performance.

Thanks to collaboration with our technical partners Modul8, MadMapper, Resolume, COGE, Vezer, Mapio, Interspace Magic Factory and Text Machine 3D  we awarded fantastic prizes to the winners of the Vj Torna‘s three categories that have registered a high level of quality in the competition. Following the concept of a brand new conception of the live video mapping tecnique, during LPM Rome and Cape Town competitors challenged to be the best live mapper on a  bidimensional and tridimensional objects, beyond the boundaries of traditional architectural challenges of mapping on the walls.
