Athens Video Art Festival | The Future is Now

The 7th Athens Video Art Festival under the title “The Future is Now” explored the relationship between art and digital culture raising questions about possible scenarios of the future. In the course of three days (20, 21, 22 May, 2011), the cultural space “Technopolis” of the Municipality of Athens (100 Peiraios str, Gkazi) was transformed into a living cell of digital culture and a meeting point for creative people who shared experiences and ideas.

The public had the opportunity to experience works of the most promising names of the local and international art scene through exhibitions, video art & animation screenings, interactive performances and music concerts underlining the relationship between technology, sound and image and welcoming the future with the best way possible.

In addition, the 7th Athens Video Art Festival presented some of the most important international festivals, such as Magmart, Live Performers Meeting, View Fest, Alphaville, Videoholica, Danube Video Art Festival, Fonlad, Art Screen and Cologne OFF – inaugurating a new series of international collaborations and exchange. Also, the festival collaborated with international and local institutions such as the British Council and Instituto Cervantes promoting cultural creativity and multiculturalism, the Department of Plastic arts and Sciences of Arts of the University of Ioannina. Finally, the Festival in collaboration with Electronic Arts Intermix organized a special tribute to Fluxus, entitled “Fluxus is an attitude”, with documentaries and artworks regarding the history of the movement.
