Isintu means mankind in the language of the Zulu's, it is a live documentary performance which gives a cultural overview of capitalism from 1900 to the present day, from an essentially African point of view.
It begins during the time of colonialism but contains echoes of the history from the past 500 years.
Referencing the numerous migrations and transplantations of people from the African continent it presents imagery reflecting the cultural manifestations of 'Africanism' in Europe and America such as Jazz, Disco, Reggae and Hip-hop as well as the industrial, economic and technological advances that occurred during this time period.
It is performed over a 'Globetronica' soundtrack which fuses electronic and world music as well as European classical music.
The creator and performer "Silent Eclipse' is an experienced footage researcher based in London, she has worked on numerous documentaries such as 'The Corporation', 'Bowling for Columbine' and Michael Moore's 'Capitalism" and is currently creating another live documentary show called 'Rasta UK'
