Abstract : Syphon (http://syphon.v002.info/) is an open source Mac OS X technology that allows applications to share frames - full frame rate video or stills - with one another in realtime. You can leverage the expressive power of a plethora of tools to mix, mash, edit, sample, texture-map, synthesize, and present your imagery using the best tool for each part of the job. Syphon gives you flexibility to break out of single-app solutions and mix creative applications to suit your needs.
The workshop will explore the power of video-rewire in many different applications designed for live video:
• Quartz Composer
• VDMX
• Modul8
• Max 5
During the Workshop will be time for exploring and experimenting open sources plugins and patches specifically designed for vjing.
During a collective project the audience will also use many different devices that can be easily tweaked at their best using the client/server Syphon Technology :
• Playstation Eye
• Microsoft Kinect
