Giuseppe Acito aka Opificio Sonico (Taranto 1967) is an Italian artist who studied Electronic Music at the Conservatory G.B.Martini in Bologna, and Sound Engineering at Fonoprint studios in the same town.

He has been working for decades with sound, space and multimedia interaction, and he stands on the borders between the different involved media, both new open source platforms and recycled vintage technologies.

It is hard to locate his work inside the traditional musical disciplines from sound art to media art. He carries on a proper research, employing techno-scientific competences to build installations / performances and environments of perception, by exploring the ancient relationship between mechanical movement, music and lights.

In 2013 after discovering the potential applications of Arduino microcontroller, he created TOA MATA BAND an eight-components mechatronics orchestra using LEGO® Bionicle series figures, which play a rig of different touchable synthesizers, drum machines, smartphones and acoustic percussions.

Since onset T.M.B. appeared on the main webzines about music, innovation technologies and art including Wired, The Creators Project, Arduino, Make Magazine, Discovery News, Mixmag, FACT Magazine, Elecronic beats, DJ MAG, RollingStone, and many more.

From the 2015 T.M.B. performed live in more than 80 events around the world, including Electron (Geneva), Audi e-Tron launch (L.A. USA), Cafe neu Romance (Prague), Maker Faire (Rome, Jerusalem), Sziget Festival (Budapest), Music Tech Fest (Berlin), RoboPOP night (Basel), ADC Festival (Hamburg), Medimex (Bari), Robot Festival (Bologna), and the open-act for Chemical Brothers in the summer of 2017.
