“Lieve” is a live multimedia and dance performance produced by Veronica Liuzzi. The original version is 13:39 minutes long.
“Lieve” (from the Italian “mild” and Latin “yeast”) talks about growth and decrease, life and death. It talks about bread and yeast, about the waste of food and starvation.
A performer dances in a digital heart, in a flow of light and in a starvation data stream. The sound consists of the noise emitted by the oscillations of yeast cells. Each acoustic signal corresponds to the moment when somebody in the world dies from hunger. During the performance (819 seconds), 273 people will pass away from starvation.
The scenography is mapping a created (not in real time) by compositing application and software for coding and it is projected on the performance.
