ORCΛ is an esoteric programming language designed to create sequences of procedures quickly. Each letter of the alphabet is an operator that performs a different function. ORCΛ is not a synthesizer therefore it does not produce sounds but generates MIDI, OSC and UDP signals in a livecoding type environment.ORCΛ can be considered a hybrid between a node programming software such as Puredata and a command line one such as Supercollider.ORCΛ can can be used with Puredata, SonicPi, Norns, Ableton, Renoise, Pilot, VCV Rack, Supercollider, samplers, drum machines or modular and non-modular synths.
ORCΛ is multiplatform, has a web version and can also be mounted on Rasperry Pi.

By combining groups of characters, it becomes possible to create chain reactions and use the result of an operation to feed other instructions and create a dynamic score. Polyrhythm, random sequences, generative sequences, are just some of its uses.

During the workshop the operation of each individual operator will be explained together with the main functions of the software. It will also describe the advanced and patch control functions. For the workshop IAC DRIVER for mac or LOOPBE for win and JACK for Linux will be used. It is recommended to bring headphones, hardware synths, midi interfaces, sound cards.
