Between 2005 and 2010, in parallel with his studies, he joins a rock band with which he gives many concerts, most notably at the Ninkasi Kao, a big concert hall dedicated to Lyon’s contemporary music scene. From this experience was born a particular interest for Eastern music and the Balkans. Nicolaï often interprets this specific sensitivity with other musicians by giving concerts or participating in festivals.
He is often invited as a pianist or composer in various festivals. Nicolaï participated twice at the Lumière Festival (2013 and 2014 editions) as a guest pianist for improvised film concerts. In 2016, he introduces his first piece of work in the prestigious Salle Cortot in Paris.
