Behind the name CALMA Carlo and Alessandro are hidden, two young guys bound together by a strong friendship and love for vinyls, Chicago house and Detroit techno. The name CALMA reminds the state of mind of these two artists towards music and towards what music gives them.
In 2004 they buy a second hand console and start mixing and proposing themselves in private parties.
In 2005 they move to Bologna and in this city they have the chance to be known playing in happy hours and small clubs.
In 2007, thanks to the cooperation with Shape Ass., they enter full force in the Bologna electronic scene, becoming resident djs in the well know party “Playhouse goes to kindergarten”, source of useful feedbacks, necessary to grow up in technique and sound, that now goes from funky and tech-house to deep techno.
Their style is unique for the great ability to decline the bass kick, always knowing when it’s time to go deep and dark or even to abandon themselves to happier funky drifts.
They partecipate as dj in the second editions of roBOt Festival in Bologna, but in 2011 the propose a new project: a live performance, in which Carlo manages drums and percussions instead Alessandro plays synthesizers and all the melodic pattern of the groove, in a show in which one is essential for the other.
The chance of making a live performance represents for them a music evolution, a new impulse in searching innovative genres and styles characterized by the use of classic instruments, vocal sessions and acoustic “home-made” experiments. All this makes their music for sure unique and dynamic, something different, difficult to catalogue it an single musical style.
