“NOSTALGIA. The Island.” is a collaborative multimedia project between composer Alexey Retinsky and two visual artists: Artur Samofalov & myself. The image of “an unforgiving, powerful, glowing shark” from Vasily Aksyonov’s novel “The Island of Crimea” is one of the main symbols in the performance. The shark turns any political game into an out-of- human history. The music for the performance is an electroacoustic piece entitled “Sleeping music” by Alexey Retinsky. The musical material for the piece was recorded in Crimea and is an interpretation of themes from poetry by Gennadii Aigi.

It had impact on formation of my artistic language and it has ever been present in my artistic work. In addition, the music is my passion and an impulse for all work as a painter or a visual artist.
