The LPM 2018 Saturday night is inspired by a really special guest: Matt Black of Coldcut, the English electronic duo pioneers of sampling, mash-up and cut n’paste since the late 80s. Matt is the AV and software specialist within Coldcut’s music which has always been accompanied by innovative video and multimedia projects, becoming one of their signatures.
Matt and Jon are also the founders of Ninja Tune, the independent record label, with a focus on encouraging interactive technologies and finding innovative uses of software.
Coldcut have also been pioneers of creating and using video games, collaged videos and apps for their shows and performances (ie, Playtime, which developed the auto-cut up algorithm, used at the 1st Sonar Festival in 1994). Matt’s latest inventions include the Ninja Jamm, Pixi, Robbery, and MidiVolve programs.
