Mapping Video - Immaterial Spaces | 50 euro

This workshop is conceived for media designers and visual artists in general, as well as for vvvv beginners, set designers and architects, anybody who are interested in exploring the new possibilities reached by the video mapping.

Workshop will be a three hours per day meeting, during LPM, with a little fee (50,00 euro) for participating. For the first day only free entry will be allowed.

Personal notebook is needed.

Thursday May 28th*: Presentation and showing of the most relevant video mapping projects in its various fields of application (architectural projections, installations, live sets, interactive dance, theater)

Friday May 29th: In-depth analysis of each showed project in order to understand employed methods, technical possibilities and needs related to each work scenario and its inherent limitations. Ideation of a conceptual map in order to summarize the different scenarios and methodologies to be adopted. Practical tests, in reproducible scenarios, to confront the problems of specific situations.

Saturday May 30th: We create our mapping 1. Preparing the mapping: what do we need to know about projector, optical lens, distances, calculations, resolutions and the real place. We create our mapping 2. Conception of an esthetics and a dramaturgy. How our project can emerge effective and consistent with respect to a selected architectural surface.

Sunday May 31th: We create our mapping 3. Working in groups and review. Hints on the future, on innovative methods of assisted mapping and interactive-dynamic mapping.

* Every class session will be about 3 hours except first day (about 2 hours instead)
