Daniel Haas (aka STURMHERTA), born 1992 in Austria, lives and works in Linz. He is currently studying timebased and interactive media arts at university of arts Linz. For several years, Haas has been involved with sound design, sound synthesis, experimental and electronic sound generation, and ways of visualizing sound using real-time graphics and animation.
His works mainly consist of pieces of music and audio-visual performances, but also music videos, real-time visuals and collaborations with musicians and sound artists.

Haas works with a wide variety of hardware and software, such as modular synthesizers, open circuits, contact microphones, VST plugins, Max/MSP and PureData. He also uses field recordings, samples from sound carriers or radios, background noise and noise from feedback loops. With these tools he creates shifted rhythms, dark, strange atmospheres and organic textures which he visualizes with audio-reactive graphics or hyper-realistic animations.

The artist‘s areas of interest range from technologies and their possibilities to scientific concepts and phenomena to philosophical themes.
His works have so far been published primarily under the alias „STURMHERTA“.

Performances took place in different clubs, artrooms and festivals in Austria.

Recordings has been published under the label Portable Storage Unit.
