Program aimed at exploring different themes through new audiovisual languages, techniques and technologies.

Vj, artists, designers, professionals and the general public will be involved in the manifold planned activities: from experimental audiovisual performances, immersive artworks shows, and DJ VJ sets to workshops, roundtables, and presentations of products and hardware, with a special regard for Free and Open Source projects. Meeting areas devoted to the interaction among the hundreds of participants will be the corollary for the whole duration of the event.

AV Performances

AV performances are the heart of the meeting and the most interesting opportunity of comparison for the artists themselves.The programme offers projects that use very different techniques, but at the same time follow a common thread that evolves throughout the day. From video theater to video dance, from live cinema performances to queer culture, from generative music and visuals to live coding, until the final parties, animated by international DJs and VJs.

VJ-DJ Sets

VJ performances represent one of the historical pillars of LPM. Since the first edition in 2004, thousands of VJs from all over the world have filled our screens with colors, stories and visual rhythms. This year, once again, some of the best international VJs come together in Rome to showcase their talent, creativity and different approaches to live visual performance.

Live Immersive

Live Immersive brings a new dimension to the meeting, with a programme dedicated for the first time to performances created for immersive environments. From audiovisual performance and live cinema to generative art, live coding and electronic music, different disciplines come together to transform the entire space into a live medium, surrounding the audience with images and sound.

AV Installations

By abandoning the stage, digital art can come close to the public producing intimate and unexpected modalities of fruition. Video, sound, touch and movement become the new vocabulary of a language dedicated to creation of interactive games and perceptual experiences of meaning and image. Interactivity is the key to reading these works, works that investigate well beyond the boundaries of visual communication, in order to enable the viewer to interact with them, pushing the senses and confused perceptions of reality and fantasy.

Workshops

The workshops and showcases are dedicated to learning and sharing, drawing upon the theme of live video culture. We explore theories of content production and the processing of images, we study and experiment with new technologies, develop cultural debates about free and open source and learn about the latest news in software and hardware development.

Live Immersive Contest

The Live Immersive Contest is dedicated to artists experimenting with new forms of live performance in immersive environments. On Friday from 15:00 to 18:00, selected artists will present their projects, exploring different approaches to images, sound, space and live interaction. A jury will select the three best performances, which will be announced during the Awards Ceremony on Friday at 00:30.
