FLÂNEUR is a performance of aimless wandering; a psychogeographic poem, chaotically typed over layers of GLSL shaders and a shimmering background of a city in Google Street View. Live coding and partially improvised poetry are combined with a crowdsourced soundscape and algorithmic visuals. We might even meet some familiar faces such as Sinclair, Débord and Ginsberg.
For FLÂNEUR, soon~ developed a custom performance tool combining several web technologies. Rather than a typical live coding presentation with a wall of monospace text solemnly hanging over the performer, the written code becomes a dynamic storytelling device. The geo-located soundscape is drawn in real time from the Freesound.org database, with live coded music creating an immersive background for the narrative.
