VJ Visionaries: Documenting the Invisible
VJing has shaped the visual culture of clubs, concerts, festivals and digital art for decades, yet much of its history remains undocumented.
Through VJ Visionaries, I have interviewed artists from different generations and backgrounds to explore how VJing has evolved from analogue experiments and underground club culture into a diverse field of live audiovisual practice.
This presentation takes you behind the scenes of that research: the stories, technologies, artistic approaches and unexpected connections that emerge when VJs reflect on their own practice. It asks what we lose when an inherently ephemeral art form is not documented, and what it means to preserve a practice that is constantly changing.
Part research, part archive and part personal journey through the VJ community, the presentation explores who gets remembered, how a live art form becomes history, and why VJing deserves to be documented on its own terms.

Author
I’m a Danish media artist, VJ, creative technologist and curator working at the intersection of art, technology and immersive experiences. With a background in Medialogy and computer graphics, I work with real-time visuals, interactive systems and audiovisual installations. I’m interested in how technology can create new ways of experiencing, interacting with and thinking about art, and I’m actively involved in developing and documenting the VJ and media art scene.
