The RomaeuropaFAKEFactory competition originates from the "Freedom for Remix" initiative, promoted by [A]rt is [O]pen [S]ource (Salvatore Iaconesi/xDxD and Oriana Persico/penelope.di.pixel] and Marco Scialdone.
RomaeuropaFAKEFactory draws on the Romaeuropa Web Factory competition to embrace a series of reflexions and practices focused on the issues of digital rights and information ownership. Competition rules allows participants to do what is expressly forbidden by the rules of the competition Romaeuropa Web Factory. The reversal of the institutional rule is intended to be the manifesto of the initiative, focused on issues such as copyright and artistic freedom inherent in the remix and cut-up, essential elements in digital contemporary art.
