∆N∆LØG ∆UDIØVISU∆L SYNTH3S1S - ∆/V Modular Synth Building Seminar
Theory & Praxis Seminar: Building analog/digital electronic systems for analisis / transmision / visualize of non audible frequencies
________________________________________________________________
Duration: 3 Days. 5 hours/day 23-25/05/13
(~3h.Theorie ∆nalog video synthesis ~13h.Praxis)
Language: English (teachers also speaks Spanish / German)
Leaders: MP19 Team
Coordination: LPM´13
Max participants: 15
Cost of workshop: NO Fee (3 days) + Material Costs (Depending on the modules Build)
Fee includes digital & printable information, schematics, layouts, .pdf´s and hands on particular assistant projects (bending video devices -videogame consoles-, CCTV cameras, panasonic AVE mods, etc....)
________________________________________________________________
TAGS: Openhardware, A/V Modular synthesizer, video synthesis, analog electronics, vectorscope, signal generators, TimeBaseCorrector, V/H Sync,CCTV, video/web cameras, modular, hardware hacking, openardware, FLOSS, DIY, Arduino, PIC´s.
________________________________________________________________
During the 3 days of the LPM´13 we will set up an analog audiovisual laboratory of open hardware tools for creating an experimental modular system for audiovisual researchers/artists.
The workshop has a first theoretical introduction of how video signals work, how they behave and how to use them, from staight video2audio-audio2video, TBC (Time Based Corrector), HSync-VSync, etc… and a second building and soldering part, with a collective performance and talk on the last day.
Some of the topics we will cover are:
-Video signals flow – talk, read, visualice errors and creative processes.
- TBC and V/H Sync signals – separate the visual part of the signal from the sync, disrupt it, and merge it back to the sync at the end.
- Video input (CCTV, VHS, DVD) + Analog Video mixing – using profesional, bended and self
designed tools.
- Signal generators and filtering (analog)
-Video op-amps, video mixers IC´s, genlock, etc...
- Pic´s and Atmegas (digital)
-Examples of video capturing with digital tools and digital video synthesis to power the compositions will be shown during the workshop
We will make a review/use/remake of the analog tools that existed (& extinguished) on the market and experiment/make new tools (analog & digital- microcontrolers-software-) to create a new imaginary and vocabulary, new techniques on video research and video developement tools. Although we work mainly with analog tools, we are not fetishists of analog systems, we will show examples also of how to merge analog / digital tools for creating more powerful compositions.
Some of the modules that participants could build are:
- Syncrønizer – ordering video signals and sync signals
- ∆syncrønizer – splits video singnals from sync sygnals to be procesed/mixed/corrupted
- TBC – Stable Time Based Correctors to make audio/signals to video compositions
- Grain/Gris Signal Generatørs – Analog and Digital video syntesizers
- P∆nøpticum – Video IN manipulations from CCTV to webcam schmutzers
- Mixer
- M∆gnifier – Magnification tools, optics and lenses
- Røedør – Analog TV transmitter
- Lasers and lights to create visualizations
